Process control system at water management

The SCADA system WinCC of SIEMENS was adapted by us for using in the water in­dustry:

A mon­i­toring cen­tral sta­tion with WinCC PC en­ables

  • re­mote data re­quest
  • con­trol and reg­u­la­tion
  • mon­i­toring
  • archiving and recording
    (in par­tic­ular counter and quan­ti­ties)

 

of any number of sub­sta­tions (water sta­tions, tower tanks, pumps, foun­tains, pipeline sys­tems) via var­ious com­mu­ni­ca­tion chan­nels:

  • ded­i­cated lines about own or SINAUT drivers, pro­to­cols ST1, ST7
  • phone modem analog/ISDN via SINAUT drivers, pro­to­cols ST1, ST7
  • GSM via SINAUT drivers, pro­tocol ST7
  • Profibus via re­peaters or mul­tidrop modems TD29P (West­ermo, dis­tances in km-range, normal telecom­mu­ni­ca­tion cable)
  • MPI/Profibus via Eth­ernet SHDSL ex­tender (West­ermo, dis­tances in km-range, normal telecom­mu­ni­ca­tion cable)
  • DSL com­mu­ni­ca­tion
    se­rial (ASCII, 3964R, RK512) / bi­nary sig­nals / Eth­ernet via ADSL 2 / 2 + router with in­te­grated RS232 ter­minal server port (West­ermo), com­mu­ni­ca­tion can take place without changing the se­rial pro­tocol, se­cure VPN tunnel (Vir­tual Pri­vate Net­work) on In­ternet, T-DSL Busi­ness tariff, fixed IP, con­fig­u­ra­tion/re­mote main­te­nance via In­ternet
  • m2m com­mu­ni­ca­tion via GPRS/UMTS
    se­rial (ASCII, 3964R, RK512) / bi­nary sig­nals / Eth­ernet via UMTS/HSUPA router with in­te­grated RS232 ports and bi­nary I/O (West­ermo), se­cure VPN tunnel (Vir­tual Pri­vate Net­work) on In­ternet, mo­bile ac­cess cur­rently via T-Mo­bile or Voda­fone, closed user group, mdex fixed.IP, con­fig­u­ra­tion/re­mote main­te­nance via OpenVPN

 

In plants, both old and new con­trol com­po­nents (e.g. S5, S7) can be mixed and sev­eral con­struc­tion sec­tions spread over any pe­riod of time can be con­nected. Old com­po­nents (S5) can be mi­grated if nec­es­sary to S7. In the next image you can see a layout of such a pro­cess con­trol system:
